These are
the KINDRED SPIRITS RETREATS scheduled for 2010:
18th Annual Circle in Hot Springs, NC
August 19 - 22, 2010
If you have yet to attend this Circle, you should know that the setting
is very special. It is hosted wonderfully at the very place where the
Kindred Spirits community began. Hot Springs is a quaint mountain town
on the Appalachian Trail, an hour northwest of trans-friendly Asheville,
NC. The historic Sunnybank Inn is 163 years old and oozes funky
Victorian charm, with an extensive library, and it even has a ghost. If
you are a veteran attendee, you may elect to bunk at the Octagon House,
though all waking activities will still be shared. The vegetarian food is
fabulous, and we also get to soak in the naturally hot mineral springs
pumped into jacuzi tubs a couple of blocks away, which are the town's
namesake.
Each of our four days together, we share in daily sacred circles. Our
Laurel River hike culminates in a ritual swim-frolic. Special teaching
sessions will be offered by some of our veteran attendees, often
including various intuitive and shamanic sorts of work. Our ceremonies
climax on an ancient Cherokee bald mountaintop with a 360-degree vista.
This retreat can be a life-changing experience for you, connecting with
your trans-spiritual family, as well as launching you further along your
own spiritual path. You are encouraged to bring your own unique visions
and expertise to share within this powerful gathering of your own kindred
spirits.
Based on last year's success, we will be able to accomodate up to 21
people on a first-come-first-served basis. This circle is the best
opportunity for new people to be welcomed into the greater transgender
spiritual community, as well as a homecoming for former attendees. Let
us all continue to come together, reclaim, and reactivate the rich
heritage of our gender-variant ancestry, with new and wondrous visions.
This retreat is scheduled from Thurs. 5pm to Sunday noon.
The registration fee covers meals, lodging and all programs.
A deposit of $125 will reserve your space, and is refundable
up until six weeks before the retreat. The balance of $100 will be
due upon arrival. Those wishing to stay one or more nights at the
Kindred Spirits Tree House in Black Mountain after the retreat may do so
at a reduced rate of $40/night.
